Newt Gingrich served as Speaker of the House from 1994 to 1999 and is possibly most well-known for his 1992 “Contract with America” that helped Republicans take over both houses of Congress after 40 years in the minority.
He has remained active in politics and helped produce several documentary films, including

§ Affirmed the conservative Family Leader’s “marriage pledge” in December 2011. The pledge asks candidates to support the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act, back a constitutional marriage amendment and encourage legislative changes to “anti-marriage” aspects in divorce, tax and welfare laws.
