Gary Johnson, the Libertarian on the Ballot

As you know, former two-term Republican governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson is the Libertarian Party candidate for president. His name is on the ballot in every state except Michigan and Oklahoma. But according to The New York Times, the Democratic and Republican parties aren’t so excited about it.

For our two cents, we’re happy to hear anyone – no matter what his or her party affiliation is – interject important civil liberties issues into the national conversation during election season. If you’re not familiar with Johnson’s record, check it out here. He supports the DREAM Act, marriage equality and the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and opposes torture and racial-profiling laws like S.B. 1070.

In fact, we were thrilled to have Gary Johnson address the ACLU Annual Conference in January.
