MTV (Still Not Showing Music Videos), Interviews Obama Instead

Just in case you weren't watching MTV on Friday night, we followed the civil liberties high points of Sway's interview with President Obama at the White House.

Obama talked about  the evolution of his current position on LGBT marriage equality.  He said  “I have been very clear about my belief that same-sex couples have to be treated, before the eyes of the law, the same way as heterosexual couples.”   He explained why he believes civil unions were not enough and noted his opposition to Defense of Marriage Act.

When asked about his policy priorities concerning women, reproductive rights and workplace discrimination, Obama talked about the importance of "equal pay for equal work" and funding for Planned Parenthood. He also said that families need additional flexibility concerning family leave.

Apparently, Mitt Romney hasn't scheduled a cameo for MTV yet. In the meantime, check out the ACLU Liberty Watch 2012 report cards to see where the candidates stand on these issues.
