Ending Torture

Waterboarding and other so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques” are torture. They violate the Constitution and the Geneva Conventions.  Prominent Republicans like Colin Powell and John McCain say so. CIA Director and General David Petraeus says so, as does a group of 40 nonpartisan, retired military generals and admirals. Such acts are even more grievous as alleged victims of torture are blocked from having redress in a court of law. Our national security policies must be consistent with the Constitution, the rule of law, and fundamental human rights.
